Out for the season

Dettori is out for the season after he fractured his right ankle at Nottingham on Wednesday 2nd October. He was unseated from his horse when going in to the start.

When all commotion had calmed down the on-course prognosis had suggested that it was only soft-tissue damage. But when taken to hospital and further tests were carried out X-rays revealed that it was in fact a break.

Peter Burrell, the jockey’s business manager said: “He went to Cambridge Hospital where X-rays were carried out and we found out that he had suffered from a fractured ankle. When I spoke to him on the phone he did not want to discuss this any further than that. It’s an extremely painful injury.”

“Sunday is out – as is the season.”

Thierry who once rode the filly to victory on her first three races before she got sold on to Dettori’s new boss, will now be riding in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday.

Criquette Head-Maarek, Trainer said: “After speaking to Frankie I have have just spoken to Sheikh Joaan, who has confirmed that Thierry Jamet will be riding Treve on Sunday.”

Thierry knows the filly very well and he won the Prix de Diane (French Oaks at Chantilly) on her last June.

“Although it is bad luck for Frankie, it’s just life in racing.”

On Sunday Frankie will be taking a back seat watching Thierry Jarnet take the reigns, hoping he will keep up on top form.
